Sea-Scope has been at the forefront of developing subtidal monitoring methodologies and techniques investigating how temperate benthic communities change over time. Some of the projects have been species-driven (e.g. assessing populations of the sunset cup coral Leptopsammia pruvoti at Lundy, England; or monitoring fish populations on a reef in Cardigan Bay, Wales); some are community-driven (e.g. sponge communities on limestone reefs off Anglesey, Wales; mixed epibenthic communities on rock in Pembrokeshire, Wales); and some are feature- or biotope-driven (e.g. tide-swept sponge communities in the Menai Strait, Wales).
